University-Wide Financial Assistance

The emergency assistance program allows students the opportunity to access short term assistance in times of need. Potential assistance may be in the form of gift cards, meal allotments, referrals, and other kinds of financial assistance.

Health


Student Health Center


The SHC is available to meet your needs wherever you are, and that means virtually as well! Please call is at 205-348-0386 to set-up a Zoom virtual general health care visit. The SHC is also providing virtual psychiatry visits as well. The pharmacy services remains the same with an additional curbside delivery with a call in request. For the Pharmacy, call 205-348-6276. Immunizations are being provided as well as allergy injections. Please call 205-348-5789 if you need your allergy serum transferred to your home allergist at this time.

Pharmacy


The SHC Pharmacy is now offering Curbside Pickup! Call (205-348-6276) ahead for your refill, then call again when you arrive, and we will bring it out to you. Copays are billed to the student account, so all interaction is limited for your safety. Please bring your ID.

COVID-19 Pre-Screening


All students entering the SHC building must have a short COVID-19 screening phone call completed prior to any visit, including appointments. Students can call 205-348-0386 between 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. for the screening. For general health visits for existing patients, the web appointment feature in the Patient Portal is also convenient.

Women's Health & Psychiatry

Appointments by phone are required for Women’s Health, Allergy Injections, and Psychiatry. Psychiatry visits are all by tele-psychiatry only. For tele-psychiatry appointments, call 205-348-8262.

Collegiate Recovery & Intervention Services

Collegiate Recovery and Intervention Services (CRIS) provides a comprehensive continuum of care for students with substance use concerns. Services range from prevention, awareness, and exploration of consequences for high risk behaviors to a supportive, safe, and engaging environment that supports students seeking or contemplating recovery. Mental Health & Counseling

Counseling Services

The Counseling Center remains open with a number of changes to accommodate UA’s current status of functioning under limited business operations. Please see below for additional resources and links.

Individual Counseling


If you’d like to speak with a counselor about services or just to consult, please call 205-348-3863. Depending on your circumstances they can assist you with connecting to counseling services that may include teletherapy or other referrals. The office will be open to phone calls Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. through 5 p.m.

Crisis and Urgent Consultation Services


If you are in crisis or are experiencing an emergency, please call 205-348-3863 Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. through 5 p.m., to speak with a counselor immediately. Outside these hours, please contact UAPD at 205-348-5454 and ask to speak with the on-call counselor.

Women & Gender Resource Center


The WGRC is staffed Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. Students can speak with a counselor or make a virtual/phone appointment by calling 205-348-5040. After hours and on weekends, the WGRC crisis line is available by calling UAPD at 205-348-5454 and asking to speak with the WGRC Victim Advocate.

Tuscaloosa SAFE Center


The Tuscaloosa SAFE Center is still open and providing forensic exams to victims of rape and a WGRC victim advocate may be able to be on-site to support students through exams. The SAFE Center can be reached at 205-860-SAFE (7233).
